Mitigation: Turkey's Intended Nationally Determined Contributions pledge an up-to-21% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions from its business as usual scenario, by 2030. This will be accomplished through energy efficiency improvements and the increased use of all renewables (particularly nuclear energy). Mitigation activities will also involve expanding and protecting land-cover and forests, improved waste management, sustainable transport policies, and efficient building practices. Adaptation: Turkey's Intended Nationally Determined Contributions do not explicitly address adaptation, however national strategy suggests that Turkey's adaptation priority areas are: water resources management, the agriculture sector and food security, ecosystem services, biological diversity and forestry, natural disaster risk management, public health, and crosscutting issue across sectors.
