CIRCE case study on the impact of climate change in Tuscany

Multiple Authors

Tuscany is a very rural region, with an economy that is heavily dependent on agriculture, a sector that is highly sensitive to climate change, as highlighted in recent years by climate hazards such as floods and heatwaves. Rural tourism is also increasingly important, and may be negatively affected by changes in temperature and precipitation patterns.

The project will examine the impacts of climate change on crop production and risk of forest fire; possible adaptation strategies in the agricultural sector, the role of agriculture and forestry in mitigation and rural tourism as a driver of change in agriculture.

The CNR-IBIMET (Institute of Biometeorology of the National Research Council) was the CIRCE partner leading on this case study.
