Economics Of Climate Adaptation And Future Financing Needs
Adaptation economics workshop series in Kenya, Burundi and Rwanda
SEI has been working with the national governments of Kenya, Burundi and Rwanda, as well as regional research institutions, to begin tackling difficult questions around the costs of various adaptation measures. This work has yielded not only bottom-up and top-down sectoral-based estimates of the costs of climate adaptation, but also: increased engagement of the three governments in global climate policy through national climate change committees, in preparation for COP15; provided ongoing support of Kenya's National Climate Change Response Strategy and preliminary work on a national climate investment framework strategy; as well as green energy and low carbon growth feasibility studies for Rwanda and Kenya.
