Climate and energy politics in China
Project description
Climate change has reached the apex of the global agenda at a time when China faces significant development and energy security challenges.
China is currently weighing the harms that climate change can cause to development, the costs of mitigation and adaptation, and the opportunities it could offer. But development is fuelled by energy and in the foreseeable future it is a concern for energy security that will drive China's climate mitigation actions.
The China Cluster analyzes China’s international and domestic policies and actions from the perspective of climate and energy security, as well as the prospects for a Chinese low-carbon development.
