Project description

This project assisted the World Bank in assessing the range of effective adaptation strategies in the MENA region. Research involved accounting for the unique circumstances of the region – namely rapid population growth, uncontrolled urbanization, poor economic performance, highly non-diversified economies, and increasing regional political instability and insecurity in devising recommendations for adaptation in water resource management, agriculture, urban areas, and migration.

The study also developed fact sheets on vulnerable sectors and greenhouse gas emission profiles for each of the 21 countries in the MENA region. As part of the project, missions were conducted to Morocco, Tunisia and Egypt.
