Yukon Research Centre

Yukon Research Centre is solving northern problems with northern expertise.

We are here to answer northern research questions, support and advance local innovation, and provide research servicesto visiting researchers.

We work in partnership with government, industry, entrepreneurs, First Nations, and communities to improve the lives of Northerners. Our in-house experts, connections across the circumpolar north, and student involvement allow us to answer your research questions and meet your innovation needs. Our door is open to all Yukoners.

Our thematic areas include, but are not limited to: climate change, cold climate innovation, natural science, social science, and technology innovation. These areas are supported through our YRC research associates and six key programs: Biodiversity Monitoring, Cold Climate Innovation, Northern Climate ExChange, NSERC Industrial Research Chair in Mine Life Cycle,Resources and Sustainable Development in the Arctic, andTechnology Innovation.

Outreach and education are important to us. We support Science Adventures, a program that engages students, teachers and the community in the exploration of science and technology.

The Yukon Research Centre receives it core funding from Government of Yukon’s Department of Education, with funding for Cold Climate Innovation from Economic Development.

Watch our researchers in action and learn more about what we do by viewing the Yukon Research Centre video.
