Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology, Nagpur (VNIT) is one of the thirty National Institutes of Technology in India. It has various academic departments focusing on the physical sciences, applied engineering and mathmatics, and hosts over 30 specialized laboratories and research centers.
The research centers include:
- Center for Remote Sensing
- Center for Water Resources
- Incubation Center
The Govt. of India by Act of Parliament (National Institutes of Technology Act, 2007 (29 of 2007)) declared VNIT Nagpur as an Institute of National Importance along with all other NITs. The Act was brought into force from 15th August 2007.
