The University of La Serena is a Regional State University of Chile, committed to the Region of Coquimbo, which focuses its work in the areas of science, technology, humanities and social sciences. It contributes to the generation of knowledge through conducting targeted research, preferably associated with regional themes, and through artistic creation.
Climate change relevant research at the University of La Serena includes (but is not limited to) the downscaling of climate models, vulnerability and adaptation in dryland communities, water governance and water resource management.
La Serena is also involved with the Center for Advanced Studies in Arid Zones (CEAZA), a Regional Centre for Scientific and Technological Research in the Region of Coquimbo, part of which is hosted in the Campus Andrés Bello of the University of La Serena.
