START International

START is a non-governmental research organization. We provide opportunities for training, research, education and networking that strengthen scientific skills and inspire leadership for advancing solutions to critical sustainability challenges. For the past 25 years, our programs have provided scientists in Africa and Asia with skills, resources and networking opportunities. Because of START's efforts, thousands of program alumni are now creating innovative solutions for a more sustainable world. Our mission is to increase opportunities for research, education and training that strengthen scientific capacities in developing countries to understand, communicate and motivate action on critical global environmental change challenges.

START works globally, connecting experts and organizations across countries and regions, with a particular focus on Africa and Asia. Find out more about our programs.
