The IUA, an agency of the Argentina Air Force was created under the name College of Aerotécnica the December 13, 1947, after changing its name to School of Aerospace Engineering, joining the National University System in 1971 (Decree No. . 3179/71)
Its current name was approved by Resolution no. 3/93 of the Ministry of Culture and Education, which is categorized as a University Institute, and by Law 24.521 integrates all national universities.
The purpose of the IUA is to provide higher education, conduct scientific and technological research and cultural outreach activities and technology transfer in order to help fulfill the mission of the FAA, in full compliance with aerospace interests of the nation.
