Higher Council for Environment and Natural Resources (HCENR)

The HCENR is the Technical arm of the Ministry of Environment and Physical Development. The HCENR is concerned with policies, legislation and strategic planning in relation to environmental and natural resources conservation and management. It adopts a range of policies for the protection of environment that include inter alia: encouragement, support and coordination of scientific research in all fields of the environment and natural resources development and conservation, adoption of environmental impact assessment studies and setting of an environmental management plan, environment conservation in coordination with the appropriate authorities at the federal and state levels, and work towards securing governmental, popular and international funding for the environment and natural resources development and conservation.
