Energy and Environmental Concerns for Zambia (E.E.C.Z) is a non-governmental organisation formed and registered under the societies Act in March 2000. It has a membership of more than forty (40) individual Members and works with other organisations that promote similar ideals such as, the National Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, the University of Zambia Department of physics, and is in the process of being affiliated to the Southern African Gender and Energy network.The mission is to contribute to the development, promotion, conservation and wider use of energy sources in a sustainable manner to the environment, and to advocate for the creation of an energy policy, that is aimed at the eradication of poverty among peri-urban and rural communities, especially women and children and the promotion of gender equity.
