CIRED is a joint research unit (UMR 8568) under the supervision of the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) and the l’École des PontsParisTech, with the Centre de coopération internationale en recherche agronomique pour le développement (Cirad), AgroParisTech and the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS). At the CNRS, CIRED is mainly part of the Institute of Human and Social Sciences (INSHS), but it is also attached to the Institute of Environmental Sciences (INEE) and the Institute of Engineering Sciences (INSIS).
It has 3 axes of research:
1. Systems and their dynamics - cities, energy, land-use
2. Integrated eco-development trajectories
3. Conditions for the implementation of eco-development trajectories
