The Community Action for Nature Conservation-CANCO is a non-political and not-for-profit voluntary environmental non-governmental organization legally registered in Kenya subscribing to the universal values and practices of good governance. CANCO was registered in 2008 under section10 of the Non-Governmental Organizations Co-ordination Act of the laws of Kenya. Its certificate of registration number is OP.218/051/2008/0451/5465.
CANCO brings together a team of multidisciplinary professionals and practitioners with vast skills, knowledge, experience, motivation and commitment to good environmental governance and sustainable natural resources management. CANCO was established to bring about meaningful engagement and participation of local communities, particularly; rural resource user groups enhance their popular understanding and knowledge of environment and organization capacities and technical skills for sustainable use and management of natural resources and ecosystems.

Be the centre for best practice in community action for nature conservation contributing to national, regional and global environmental agenda as well as the achievement of widespread sustainable development and the Millennium Development Goals.
MISSION
The mission of CANCO is to constructively shape and influence stakeholders’ attitude and behavior at all levels be stewards of good environmental governance and best practice in sustainable management of environment through Environmental Networking, Education and Advocacy – ENEA initiatives
