Agua Sustentable ("Sustainable Water") is a non-profit NGO that aims to contribute to sustainable water and environmental management at the national and international levels. Agua Sustentable focuses on building knowledge, policies, institutions and legal standards aimed at generating collective welfare, socio-economic development and environmental sustainability of local populations.
These lines of action are achieved through the development and strengthening of social and community capacities, and through promoting citizen participation and responsibility in the caring, collective and participatory management of watersheds and water sources and the services arising from the use of these.
The institution is guided by the principle of the human right to water and the priority of use of water for life, understood as human consumption and productive activities related to food safety and the environment.
