Postdoctoral Scientist
I am currently working as a Postdoctoral Scientist at the Centre for Earth System Research and Sustainability (CEN), Institute of Geography, Hamburg University. Prior to this, I was holding an Assistant Professor (Environmental Management) position at the Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB). I am also an affiliate at the International Centre for Climate Change and Development (ICCCAD). By training, I am a human geographer with an MA (by Research) and PhD from Durham University. In my PhD and post-PhD activities, I was privileged to be able to oscillate between academia and the development sector, in Bangladesh and the UK, with a particular focus on climate change adaptation, resource governance and environmental sustainability. I tried to understand the meaning of climatic stresses in ordinary people's mundane life vis-Ã -vis the notion of climate actions by agencies at different tiers. Thus, environmental governance became an eventual topic of interest across my works. In short, over more than a decade, I am working in collaboration with multiple agencies on several contemporary areas of Human Geography, such as environmental degradation, climate-smart agriculture, climate change adaptation, climate finance, resource governance, sustainable energy solutions, and environmental knowledge framing, with a focus on the global south.
