JOSEPH KOBLA WEMAKOR is a celebrated freelance journalist (Editor-In-Chief of Ghananewsone.com and several other online portals), a blogger and a staunch human rights activist in Ghana. He also doubles as the Deputy Head of Media and Communication of the Ghana Chapter of the PLO Lumumba Foundation. In line with his passion as a human rights activist advocate, he founded the Human Rights Reporters Ghana (HRRG) which he manages as the Executive Director. This is a Non-Governmental Organization which seeks to end all forms of human rights abuse against people especially women, girls and children within and out of Ghana.
Joseph through his dedication towards serving humanity had worked and volunteered for more than 300 civil societies in Ghana and abroad to execute quite a number of projects. Working actively and in partnership with people, organizations, churches, cultures, sectors, beliefs, and practices, in Ghana, Africa and on the Global scene has been his hallmark. Again As a gentleman of the century his contributions to youth and humanity development cannot be under estimated, which have reflected in most organizations he had served in the past including the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) Accra,UNDP Ghana, Engage Now Africa (ENA), International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) Network of Journalists, Media Migration Network (MMN) and the Coalition of People Against Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (COPASH) and the UNFPA Media.
Being a seasoned reporter of no mean repute, his stories has always shed light on critical issues affecting women, girls and children in the society, as a result, has won several awards including being honored with the prestigious 2018 maiden award on migration reporting. He is a well gifted persona who takes up. He has a fair balance of educational laurels and degrees of recognition from various institutional backgrounds. With these roles highlighted Joseph had served, challenges with a prolific writing back ground and specializes in youth activism, human rights, governance and accountability, training, SRH, Research, development planning, women’s health, and policy reforms. Joseph has been involved in the work of comprehensive youth activism in the areas of climate change, environment, policy, communication, gender and health rights at the state, district, and national levels.
