Senior climate change adaptation specialist, international team director
I am passionate about supporting climate-vulnerable sectors and communities successfully adapt to a changing climate and achieve multiple benefits for people and nature.I have over 18 years of combined experience as a policy advisor within the Government of Canada and as a specialist climate consultant Jimena, with transferable skills in policy analysis, knowledge synthesis, economic analysis, climate change vulnerability and adaptation assessment. I have worked on climate change adaptation and mitigation since 1999, including on the links between climate change and biodiversity. Since 2013 I have worked at the nexus of climate change adaptation, disasters and ecosystem resilience, actively supporting a number of national governments and development partners in Canada, Central America, the Caribbean, Africa and Asia. I have led or contributed to several projects seeking to integrate climate-related impacts, disaster risks and resilience into ongoing strategy and operations, including for national environment ministries and regional development organizations. Through this work, I have gained significant experience in developing guidance to enable social change among a range of audiences (e.g., environmental managers, fisheries officers, protected areas managers, poverty assessment officers, community & public health planners). I have also supported non-governmental clients seeking to scale ecosystem-based adaptation.
