Dennis Bours

Evaluation Consultant

Dennis works with the Independent Evaluation Office of the Global Environment Facility on the cross-cutting topics of gender and resilience. Dennis earned his Bachelors in Commercial Engineering, a MSc in Sustainable Development and Technology Management from Eindhoven University of Technology, and an MSc in Global Supply Management with a focus on climate risk management in global supply chains from Robert Gordon University / Aberdeen Business School. He has continued to extend his knowledge by engaging in various leadership and change management studies from Cornell University's proactive leadership program.

Prior to working with the GEF IEO worked with PACT / Rockefeller Foundation as SEA Change Team Leader on climate M&E knowledge management. Before that he developed a collaborative platform on mediation and conflict transformation in the Asia Pacific region resulting in the Asia Pacific Mediation Leadership Summit, which took place in Bangkok 2-4 December 2011. The Summit design was taken over by the UN Friends for Mediation Group and will become the framework for mediation capacity development beyond the Asia Pacific region.

Dennis has worked globally as a humanitarian and sustainable development professional. He has diverse experience in change management, monitoring and evaluation, disaster risk reduction, operations management and staff capacity building. Over the years Dennis has worked in the Brazilian Amazon, Angola, Sudan, Indonesia, Thailand, Congo and Kenya on disaster risk reduction, climate change, operational management, monitoring and evaluation, and operational profiling for a variety of humanitarian organizations. He has provided short term support, training and capacity building in Papua New Guinea, Cambodia, Myanmar, India, Sierra Leone, Uganda, Nigeria, Libya and Ethiopia.
