Ansgar Fellendorf

As part of the mountain team of the UNEP Vienna Programme Office I work in the area of mountain governance, climate change adaptation and sustainable mountain development. Primarily, responsibilities include the implementation of the SDC-funded programme Adaptation at Altitude: Taking Action in Mountains that aims to strengthen and mainstream climate change adaptation in mountain regions. In particular, I focus on fostering regional mountain governance in the South Caucasus region, promoting adaptation solutions and assisting policy processes.

Other responsibilities include project development, and supporting events and activities around sustainable mountain development.

Previously, I worked in natural hazard management, disaster risk reduction, ecosystem services and climate change adaptation in the Alps at the Austrian Federal Ministry for Agriculture, Regions and Tourism. I graduated with a MSc degree in Environmental Technology and International Affairs from the Diplomatic Academy and University of Technology Vienna. For my thesis, I researched the effectiveness and potential of voluntary carbon offsets for sustainable development and climate change mitigation in Nepal.
