Introduction
Over the past 18 months, Dr. Yasuaki Hijioka and colleagues at the Centre for Climate Change Adaptation (CCCA), National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES) in Japan have been working with the KE4CAP project to share knowledge and expertise gained from developing and operating two climate adaptation knowledge platforms:
- Climate Change Adaptation Information Platform for Japan (A-PLAT)
- Asia-Pacific Climate Change Adaptation Information Platform (AP-PLAT)
Two EU-Japan virtual knowledge exchange events were held on 29 and 30 June 2021, hosted by NIES. They provided a valuable opportunity to continue on-going discussions in two key areas (i) linking local and national platforms to promote action, and (ii) enhancing the role and value of transnational platforms, and also to learn more about the approaches Japan is taking with their national and transnational platforms.
A Introductory video from Mr. Kazuaki Takahashi, Director of Climate Change Adaptation Office, Ministry of the Environment, Japan can be viewed above.
The Final Report from this event is available to download (to the right).
