Climate System Analysis Group (CSAG) Winter School 2009

 

The Climate System Analysis Group (CSAG) Winter School is a 2-week intensive course aimed at professionals from Government Departments & Ministries, City Councils and Local Municipalities, NGO’s, corporate organizations, environmental consultancies and individuals involved in decision making and policy development in light of climate change. The course takes place in July each year at the University of Cape Town.

The course covers the following topics:

  1. Understanding basic climate science and climate dynamics
  2. Analysing climate data for change and variability – trends and extreme events
  3. Using climate change scenarios – uncertainty, probability, climate envelopes
  4. Assessing vulnerability and impacts
  5. Communicating climate risks
  6. Prioritising adaptation options

Topics are adapted year on year to accommodate participants’ learning goals and objectives, as well as the inclusion of guest lecturers.
