Introduction
This module explores first a series of frameworks used to assess vulnerability, showing how the definition and interpretation of vulnerability has evolved over time. It also introduces the steps to conduct a rapid vulnerability assessment using the vulnerability-exposure matrix to identify exposure units and threats/hazards. Indicators of vulnerability can be built on this basis, as well as vulnerability profiles to visualise the structure of differentiated vulnerability rather than representing vulnerability with aggregated indices.
