Climate Adaptation Training

Climate Adaptation Learning Resources

This collection of modules is developed and refined through different training workshops and short courses on climate information analysis, vulnerability assessment and adaptation planning. Some examples are the ‘Winter School’ (organized by CSAG in collaboration with SEI Oxford), the ‘Adaptation Academy’ (organized by GCAP), the 'Climate and Development Workshop’ (organized by ENDA), and the 'Advanced Training Programme on Climate Change - Mitigation and Adaptation' (coordinated by the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI), SIDA and SEI).

The material in these modules draws on lessons learned from different projects and is of open access. The idea is to keep adding modules to this Initiative. If you would like to use this material or share useful modules with the wider climate adaptation community, please become an author of this initiative.

Using QuickShare you can add content quickly and using a very simple template, alternatively watch a small video showing you how to add content in weADAPT.

It is a pleasure to be part of this group! and I'd like to contribute with our new Cities and Climate Change modules, recently launched at UN-Habitat.

Please contact me if you need further details. Best regards, Lilia

Lilia, thank you for letting us know about the Cities and Climate Change Academy! Would you be interested in creating a page introducing the Academy under this theme 'Climate Adaptation Training', maybe building on your Module 2: The Practice of Urban Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation? This page could then link to the Academy page for more modules. The content you shared is also very relevant for a project that has recently started called FRACTAL focused on building urban resilience in Windhoek, Maputo, Lusaka, Cape Town, Durban, Blantyre, Gaborone and Harare. Looking forward to your inputs!

Hi Lilia,

Thanks so much for sharing this. As Tahia mentioned, it will be a very useful resource for our new FRACTAL project working with local governments in 8 African cities to improve the flow of climate-related information across the science-policy-planning interfaces.

Also, it links to some curriculum development work we are doing for the Southern African Regional Universities Association (SARUA) on climate change and development (see news item), which includes a module on cities and climate change, so there may be opportunities to use / build on / modify some of the materials you have developed.

Kind regards,

Anna

Look forward to exchange with the theme members on needs and relevance of available content..
